Spain looked imperious in their first two games at this Women’s World Cup.
The European giants swatted aside Zambia and Costa Rica, scoring eight goals in the process.
But on Monday, La Roja have looked vulnerable for the first time. Playing Japan in a shoot-out for top spot in Group C and have conceded three goals before half-time.
Japan have, arguably, been as good as Spain so far in Australia and New Zealand and have shown just how excellent they can be today.
Hinata Miyazawa was the goalscorer as she raced in behind Spain’s high line and netted with a cool finish.
Reki Ueki doubled their lead with a deflected effort from the edge of the area before Miyazawa scored again on the break before half-time.
Have we just found a new favourite for the tournament?
