Japan secured the 2025 SheBelieves Cup with an impressive win over the United States in San Diego, ending the USWNT's dominance in the tournament.
Scorers: Sentnor 14' ; Momiki 2', Koga 50'
It was a stunning start for Japan who scored through Yūka Momiki inside two minutes, quieting the home crowd.
But the U.S. responded well, pulling level through Ally Sentnor, who has been on a tear in the tournament.
The perhaps should have gone ahead before the break, but somehow Catarina Macario pushed her shot wide on the break.
The hosts were punished for not taking the chance after the break when substitute Tōko Koga found the back of the net for Japan to reclaim the lead for the visitors.
While the U.S. pushed to pull level in the dying minutes they could not find their feet in front of goal, and Japan held on to secure the trophy.
