Japan and USA won opening games at the SheBelieves Cup, Canada and China drew at the Pinatar Cup while Mexico picked up three points.

Japan overcame Australia 4-0, Mina Tanaka’s first-half double including a shot through the legs of goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold.

Tanaka turned provider after the break for Maika Hamano to score, Moeka Minami heading home the fourth.

USA beat Colombia 2-0, Catarina Macario connecting with a Yazmeen Ryan cross for a 33rd-minute goal, Ryan again involved on the hour mark before Tara McKeown found Ally Sentnor who netted from distance.

Canada went ahead against China at the Pinatar Cup in Spain, Julia Grosso with the goal before Kun Jin levelled in the second half.

Mexico beat Taiwan 4-0 at the same tournament, Montserrat Saldivar second-half brace sealing the win.

Highlights of internationals elsewhere were Ecuador beating El Salvador 4-1 in a match featuring three penalties and a late red card for the victors, South Korea’s 3-0 defeat of Uzbekistan seeing a Choo Hyo-joo double added to by Choe Yu-ri, Morocco making a very late breakthrough against Ghana with a Sakina Ouzraoui effort and Vanuatu thrashed 8-0 by Thailand U-20s for whom Rinyaphat Moondong hit a 14-minute hat-trick.
