Bayer Leverkusen captain Jonathan Tah spoke to the media during today’s press conference ahead of their second-leg tie with Bayern Munich.
The German international discussed the absence of Florian Wirtz, the blueprint to taking on Bayern and if a comeback is truly possible.
“This is now a big test for us to show and prove we are a team that can handle the loss [of Florian Wirtz] like that.
“Everyone knows how important a player and what a difference maker he is for us, but we need to cope with it, and we’ll definitely play for him.
“Regarding energy, approach and mentality, we did well in our last home game [against Bayern]. We want to build on that and that’s our goal tomorrow.
“[A comeback] would create something really special, it could be a game that goes down in history.
“The chance is there, as the coach said multiple times. You try to take the chance that is there.
“We know how big of a challenge it is, but we accept it happily and will give everything tomorrow,” the 29-year-old added.
Meanwhile, Die Werkself will be sweating over the fitness of Granit Xhaka, Edmond Tapsoba, Robert Andrich and Jonas Hofmann ahead of the big game.
