The United States international has been prolific this term for the Canaries under Johannes Hoff Thorup, with his winning goal against West Brom last weekend taking him to 13 strikes for the season.

It’s a particularly impressive stat given Sargent has only played 25 games this term, missing 14 matches with a groin injury that required surgery.

Over the international break, Sargent had an interview with the Guardian, which contained a quote about having a 'decision' to make over his Carrow Road future this summer.

Since then, the Norwich frontman has responded to his comments and clarified his stance over how long he thinks he’ll remain in East Anglia for.

As reported by the Pink Un, Josh Sargent clarified his comments made to the Guardian, revealing he is happy at the club and that no decision has been made over his future.

Sargent said: “I'm pretty sure in the first half of that interview I said, 'I have a contract here at Norwich.' I'm very happy. My family's very happy here.

"It was in no way saying that I'm definitely gone at the end of the season. I'm very happy with the manager of the team. I was just trying to say there will be options. But that's not to say that I'm definitely leaving.

"It's a decision that me and my family are going to have to make. Obviously, the team has to agree to me even leaving in the first place. So as of now, I'm very happy here.

"With that interview, I didn't try to come off in a bad way. It's become home for my family, and the fans are amazing to me all the time. I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

"I think it came off a bit in the wrong way. I didn't want to upset anybody like that."

Josh Sargent has been fabulous this season for Norwich, with his goals at the top end of the pitch helping to keep the Canaries’ small hopes of a play-off place alive.

Making strides forward to becoming a top-class forward, it is probably the time for Sargent to see what he can produce in the Premier League, particularly if Norwich don’t return to the top-flight.

Norwich would of course want to keep hold of him to guarantee goals and give themselves every chance of a promotion push next season, but on the other hand, the club would receive a sizeable fee for his services to improve multiple areas of the squad.

However, between now and the end of the campaign, Norwich should view these comments and go all out to convince Sargent to remain on this project at Carrow Road, with the forward having a massive part to play in their quest to return to the big time should he remain in yellow and green.
