Napoli are keen on signing Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee this summer, as per reports.

United’s decision to send underperforming forwards Marcus Rashford and Antony on loan to Aston Villa and Real Betis, respectively, has worked wonders for both stars.

The pair have rediscovered their confidence in different surroundings. Rashford has turned into an assist machine under Unai Emery, managing six assists for the Lions. Meanwhile, Antony is troubling defences in Spain with his wand of a left foot.

Even if Rashford and Antony do not find their way back into Ruben Amorim’s plans, their sales would boost United’s transfer budget.

Now, a report in Spain suggests the Premier League side could benefit from a similar approach this summer as well.

According to Fichajes, Napoli are interested in signing Zirkzee on loan ahead of the next season.

It is claimed that Napoli boss Antonio Conte is the “driving force” behind the Serie A giants’ pursuit.

The ex-Bologna striker has not managed to show the same level of confidence in front of the goal in England, having scored just seven goals in all competitions this season.

However, the 23-year-old is seen as an ideal option to strengthen Conte’s attack, owing to his impressive stint at Bologna.

The Spanish outlet suggest the Dutchman’s move to Italy “would also be attractive” to United, as more gametime in a league he is already familiar with would aid his development.

Further, it is understood that Zirkzee would also welcome the idea of returning to Serie A and playing under a top manager like Conte.

Having said that, Amorim might not fancy the Netherlands international’s exit, as before his season-ending injury at Newcastle, Zirkzee showed plenty of promise as a wide playmaker in the Portuguese’s 3-4-3 formation.
