Manchester United and Arsenal have learnt why they might struggle in their attempts to lure Harry Kane in the summer.
The 31-year-old spent the bulk of his playing career at Tottenham before finally leaving the nest in the summer of 2023 to join Bayern Munich in the quest for trophies. While’s still waiting for his first taste of silverware, this will likely come at the end of the season, with the Bavarians currently leading the Bundesliga table ahead of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Moreover, the German giants are gunning for Champions League glory, as they prepare to take on Italian champions Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.
However, there have been some speculations regarding Kane’s long-term future in Munich, with some sources linking him with a return to the Premier League, possibly through the gates of Man Utd, his old club Spurs, or even their rivals Arsenal.

Moreover, these reports claimed that the striker’s suitors could activate a release clause worth €100 million to force the operation.
But according to German journalist Christian Falk, this clause was only viable in the January transfer session and thus cannot be triggered in the summer. Nevertheless, a new and less costly clause will be put in play in January 2026.
“It’s not True that Arsenal and Manchester United are preparing to activate Harry Kane’s release clause this summer,” wrote the transfer market expert in his latest column for The Daily Briefing.
“Kane’s €100m release clause, previously ready to be activated in the prior winter is no longer an option for clubs ahead of the summer. If an interested suitor wants to sign him, they have to wait to trigger his next release clause (€80m), which activates in the next winter window.”
The England captain has been in sensational form this season, scoring 32 goals and providing 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. His contract with Bayern is valid until June 2027.
