Jürgen Klopp has landed a new role in football. The former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach has signed a contract with Red Bull to become the organisation’s Global Head of Soccer. The 57-year-old will start his new job on 1st January 2025, but that doesn’t stop the questions as to whether he will coach the German national team.

Julian Nagelsmann’s contract as the German national team head coach expires after the 2026 World Cup but in his new role, Klopp has secured an exit clause that allows him to leave for the head coach position at the German national team in future.

But when asked last week after being awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier last week, Klopp commented on Nagelsmann’s contract situation at the DFB.

“Everyone hopes that Julian Nagelsmann will do this much, much longer than 2026.”

The DFB have always been a long-term admirer of Klopp, and it only seemed like a matter of time before he would become the nation’s head coach. But with Nagelsmann’s success and Klopp’s new role, we may not see the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League winning head coach back on the touchline for some time.
