Julien Duranville will make his senior training debut with Borussia Dortmund next week, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
The 16-year-old winger signed from Anderlecht in January but due to a muscle tear has not yet been able to train with his new colleagues. Since his injury, Duranville has worked on his own, away from the spotlight, to ensure that he is in the best shape possible before being finally introduced to his new teammates.
The Belgium U19 international is highly thought of at Dortmund, especially by head coach Edin Terzić: “He is a highly talented winger who feels very comfortable on the right side and is super strong in one-on-one situations, he has very good creativity and can pose a lot of goal threats.”
Though Duranville will train with the senior squad, the youngster won’t be thrown into the deep end right away or be used as emergency aid should the squad face even more injuries. BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl announced this when they first sign the exciting prospect.
Kehl said that they would “introduce him step by step to the level of the Bundesliga.”
Despite a number of key injuries, Dortmund are currently unbeaten in 2023 and face TSG Hoffenheim away this weekend.
