Roma boss Ivan Juric spent part of his post-match presser discussing some of the young players on the roster.
In the aftermath of Roma 1-1 Athletic Club, the Croatian technician addressed Tommaso Baldanzi’s positive performance and touched upon what he expects from Matias Soulé going forward.
“I have five or six very interesting young players,” said Juric after the match.
“There’s a lot of work to do but I’ve been really impressed by Baldanzi in these first ten days – at both ends of the pitch.”
“You can tell he’s done a lot of strengthening work: he’s got stamina, pace, technique and application. He’s well-rounded and can play either in the hole or in a box-to-box role, like under Daniele [De Rossi].”
“Soulé has only played one Serie A season with Frosinone, so, like Baldanzi and other young players, you have to be patient,” he continued.
“Today I saw progress in his personality, in his desire to do well and in his defensive role. He has to work on different aspects, but he also has the right attitude.”
“With young players, it always takes time to develop their strength. There are many solutions to explore, but the possibilities are there. In big teams there is a bit more pressure, but we have to give these players enough time to make progress.”
