Justin Kluivert set to complete £10m move to Bournemouth | OneFootball

Justin Kluivert is undergoing a medical at the Vitality Stadium before completing his £10 million switch to Bournemouth, report The Athletic.

The 24-year-old is on the verge of signing a five-year contract with the Dorset outfit after they agreed a transfer fee with Roma.

After appointing former Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola as their new manager a few days ago, the Cherries are taking further steps to assemble a squad worthy of the Premier League challenges.

Iraola is familiar with Kluivert’s qualities as the two were adversaries in La Liga last season, with the diminutive winger enjoying an impressive campaign at Valencia.

He tallied eight goals and added two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions, playing a pivotal role in helping Los Che secure top-flight survival by the skin of their teeth.

Despite his decent exploits at Mestalla, the Dutch forward failed to earn a permanent contract in Spain, returning to his parent club Roma, only to move on to his new destination.

Kluivert was close to joining Fulham last summer, but the deal collapsed at the 11th hour, opening the door for Valencia to swoop in and take him to La Liga.

But the son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert will ply his trade in the Premier League next season, having already featured in four of Europe’s top-five leagues.

Since leaving his boyhood club Ajax for Roma in 2018, Kluivert has been borrowed to RB Leipzig, Nice and Valencia, gaining experience in every elite division on the continent but the Premier League.

That’s about to change, with Bournemouth hijacking Valencia’s effort to keep him at the Iberian Peninsula, mainly thanks to the player’s hope to perform in the best league in the world.

Led by Gary O’Neil, the Cherries barely maintained their Premier League status in 2022/23, but they are eager to ensure a stress-free campaign under Iraola.
