Kevin De Bruyne remains open to renewing his Manchester City contract expiring in the summer, as per a new report.

The midfielder turns 34 in June and there remains uncertainty over what the coming months hold for the Belgium international, who has attracted interest from the Major League Soccer and Saudi Pro League.

City are believed to be open to renewing De Bruyne’s contract on reduced wages owing to his desire of representing his nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

De Bruyne has struggled for consistency this season and it does appear the playmaker is past his prolific prime that led Manchester City to unparalleled success under Pep Guardiola.

The Blues are fighting to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League and have nine league games left to climb up the table from fifth place.

Guardiola has maintained that De Bruyne hasn’t been the same player since his troubles with hamstring injuries right from City’s historic 2022-23, treble-winning campaign.

It was recently reported that De Bruyne played himself into ground whilst carrying pain in his hamstring in the final two months of Manchester City’s treble run-in – which saw the Blues win their maiden Champions League title en route to history.

According to Ryan Taylor writing for The Mirror, De Bruyne remains open to signing a new Manchester City contract and extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond 10 seasons.

Furthermore, ex River Plate striker Carlos Morete has urged his former club to plot a £15 million swoop for De Bruyne, who will be out of contract at City on June 30.

Manchester City will be waiting to see how the Premier League run-in plays out and should De Bruyne prove his fitness and lead his side into a top-four finish, it would be more likely that an agreement could be brokered.
