Kevin Holland open to joining Union Berlin | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that Kevin Volland is open to joining Union Berlin as the club have also shown interest in the striker.

Concrete talks between the two parties have already taken place, with Volland preferring to join Union over the other teams interested in him. Union have begun negotiating with Volland’s current club AS Monaco over a potential fee. The team from the principality is demanding around €6-7m for the 30-year-old.

The 30-year-old has previously attracted interest from Wolfsburg as well as former club Bayer Leverkusen as a potential replacement for the injured Patrik Schick, but his preference is Union, likely due to the prospect of Champions League football.

Volland joined Monaco from Leverkusen in 2020 for €11m but has often struggled. This season, the stiker was hampered by injuries which resulted in him only playing 17 games in Ligue 1.

This will likely be Union’s fifth striker in their squad as well as the third striker signing of the summer. Union have already completed the signings of David Fofana and Mikkel Kaufmann this summer while Sheraldo Becker, Jordan and Kevin Behrens are already at the club. The arrival of several attackers could possibly point towards a change in formation at Union this season.
