Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has shed light on his growing understanding with his teammate Lamine Yamal, emphasising the constant communication between them on the pitch.

The French centre-back, who now plays as a right-back at Barcelona, has explained how he regularly speaks with the young Spanish international to fine-tune certain aspects of their positioning and movement.

The Frenchman believes that Yamal’s tactical awareness and positioning can further elevate the teenager’s impact on the game.

“We talk to find out how I can improve certain aspects, like the runs that can open up space for (Lamine), even though he can handle two players on him.

“We’re quite complementary. Defensively, I talk a lot with him to correct certain details about his positioning,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Praise for Yamal

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Croatia-France Nations League fixture, Kounde took a moment to remind everyone that, despite Yamal “does exceptional things.”

He pointed out that while the young forward is already delivering at the highest level, it is important to remember that “he’s still a kid who loves to play pranks.”

Additionally, the Barcelona defender highlighted Yamal’s rare ability to elevate the performances of those around him.

At just 17 years old, the Spanish international has already demonstrated an impressive level of maturity, influencing games with his creativity, technical skill, and ability to read the game.

“We understand each other very well on and off the pitch.

“People often forget that, even though we see him do exceptional things, he’s just a kid, a teenager, who loves to play pranks, and that’s fine because I do too,” he added.

Kounde’s words reflect the strong camaraderie within the Barcelona squad, as experienced players like him help guide the next generation of talents.
