Manchester City are subject to talks with Kyle Walker and his representatives over the immediate termination of his Etihad Stadium contract, according to new reports.

The 34-year-old is keen to explore his options abroad and away from English football this month, having signalled that very intention to Manchester City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain in recent days.

Pep Guardiola shocked many by publicly confirming the move from Walker during a recent post-match press conference, in which the Manchester City manager revealed, “Kyle asked to explore the option to play abroad at the end of his career.

“He asked two years ago after the Treble. Bayern Munich wanted him but the offer was not good enough. I asked him, the club asked him, how important is this? We cannot understand the success the club had these years without Kyle. It’s impossible.”

Guardiola continued on Walker after the club’s 8-0 win over Salford City, in which the right-back was absent from the matchday squad, “He gave us something we didn’t have and he’s been amazing.

“He went to the club. I’m pretty convinced that there is no one person in our job that doesn’t want to be where they are can perform. He’s asking to explore [his options] so it may not happen, we don’t know, you never know. Explore the situation and I respect a lot.

“I am more than grateful what he has done for many years for us. He arrived eight years ago with us and we start to win, win, win, win and he has been important for the national team and of course with our team.”

And it now appears as though Walker is on the verge of getting his wish, working simultaneously alongside his representatives to finalise a move into Italian football, and see his deal with the reigning Premier League champions terminated immediately.

According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Serie A giants AC Milan are now advancing on to the final stages of a deal for Manchester City captain, Kyle Walker.

It is explained that more contacts are planned to complete an agreement on personal terms with Walker and his representatives until June 2027, with the player personally keen on a switch to the San Siro club and negotiations underway.

Further reporting courtesy of Matteo Moretto has stated that Kyle Walker’s ‘yes’ on a move to the Italian club has been in place for ‘several days’, and the player is now in talks with Manchester City to terminate his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Journalist Marco Conterio has also claimed that Walker was absent from Manchester City training on Friday as he continues to negotiate his exit from the club as soon as possible.

At present, it remains to be seen whether City officials will seek to bring in a direct replacement for Walker in the ongoing transfer window, with Pep Guardiola left with Rico Lewis as his only natural right-back option at present.

City are however aware that the likes of Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Matheus Nunes can all fill-in within the position depending on the type of match they are competing in, while multiple defensive arrivals are on the verge of being announced by the club.

Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis have arrived in Manchester from RC Lens in France and Palmeiras in Brazil respectively, and have since undergone their various medical assessments and contract signings to finalise big-money switches into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad.
