Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé could be forced to sit out from the off when his teammates return to action on Wednesday evening.

This comes amid confirmation that the Frenchman is struggling with an injury problem at present.

Real Madrid, of course, are primed to return to action in just shy of 24 hours’ time.

After securing a narrow advantage courtesy of a 2-1 triumph in the tie’s opener last week, Los Blancos will make the short trip across Spain’s capital, for a Champions League Last-16 showdown with city rivals Atlético.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to get over the line to book their spot in the competition’s quarter-finals, Carlo Ancelotti’s side could be forced to make do, at least from the off, without the contributions of a key performer.

As revealed by journalist Miguel Ángel Díaz of COPE, Kylian Mbappé will require a pre-match fitness test to determine his status for Wednesday night:

‘Mbappé will undergo a medical test tomorrow to obtain more details about his ankle discomfort. The forward suffered a knock in the match against Rayo. Depending on the test and his feelings, it will be decided whether he starts the match against Atlético tomorrow or not.’
