Real Betis are reportedly keen to land Manchester United benchwarmer Antony before the end of the January transfer session.
The Brazilian has been a largely disappointing figure at Old Trafford since making the move from Ajax for £86 million in the summer of 2022. Despite his underwhelming form, the 24-year-old had relied on the backing of his old ally Erik ten Hag, the man who orchestrated his transfer to the club.
But with the Dutchman now out of the club, Antony has been starving for minutes on the pitch under the guidance of Man Utd’s new boss Ruben Amorim.
Since his arrival, the Portuguese tactician has been favouring Amad Diallo on the right wing in his 3-4-2-1 formation, and for good reason. The young Ivorian has arguably been the club’s brightest spark in this abysmal campaign, as evidenced by his late heroics against Manchester City and Southampton.
Therefore, many expect the Brazil international to leave Carrington in January and try to revive his career elsewhere.

In recent weeks, Real Betis have emerged as his most vivid admirers, but finding the right formula hasn’t been easy, especially when taking into account the player’s hefty wages (around £200,000 per week).
But according to Marca, the Andalusians have now made a new and improved bid which could prompt Man United to greenlight the operation.
Betis will be looking to sign the player on loan until the end of the season, with the Red Devils covering a part of his wages. The Spanish newspaper claims that with the new offer, Betis have edged closer to the terms requested by the Premier League giants.
So it remains to be seen if Antony will wind up in Spain before the end of January.
