The transfer window closes a week tonight, and after 27 days of doing very little, it looks like Chelsea could be in for a busy finale.

One player who could be on the move is Joao Felix. The attacking midfielder only signed from Atletico Madrid  for £45m in the summer, but has played very little, and almost not at all in the Premier League. Even Mykhailo Mudryk’s suspension for doping hasn’t improved Felix’s situation, and we can understand why he and Chelsea would already be keen to at least sort out a loan move so that he can retain some of his value.

There was some chatter about a move earlier in the month which went rather quiet – but it’s now back with a bang. Ben Jacobs has just put out a big tweet explaining the new developments.

Felix is wanted by Aston Villa, who have coincidentally today moved very close to completing a move for Axel Disasi, another Chelsea spare part. They can’t take both on loan due to Premier League rules, but they could buy one and loan the other.

Chelsea are apparently “open to different options and formulas,” meaning they’d consider a loan or a permanent sale for either, at the right price.

Disasi and Felix find their futures intertwined

It’s clear that the Disasi move is more likely – Jacobs says his loan is seen as “likely” and that the Frenchman is keen on the move. The price for Felix and his willingness to move are less certain – but this is certainly an indication that there’s an awareness that his second spell at Chelsea isn’t going to plan.

Also mentioned are Wolves, who could open up the whole situation by signing Disasi, thereby opening the door for a Felix loan to Villa. That seems a potentially much more tempting setup for the former Benfica wonderkid.
