Latest Cardiff City transfer news: Hudson talks embargo, battle with Coventry for PL player

Cardiff City have had a difficult campaign so far in the Sky Bet Championship and they find themselves just above the relegation zone as we head towards the January window.
It seems fair to assume, then, that the winter market is going to be an important one for Cardiff, with manager Mark Hudson surely eager to try and get some signings done to improve the squad and get them up the table.
What are the latest headlines around the club and transfers, though? We take a look now…
Mark Hudson gives embargo update
Cardiff are currently under a transfer embargo after failing to pay the first instalment of the £15m transfer fee for the late Emiliano Sala.
They’ll obviously be wanting to try and clear that in order to do some business in January, and Hudson has given an update on that front:
“The communication has been clear from the chairman.
“That is we are under an embargo right now, but the continued proceedings that are going on are to open that up.
“I’m aware of what can and can’t be done but it is an ongoing situation, so we have to wait and see how it goes behind the scenes.”
Wolves player linked
If Cardiff’s embargo is lifted, Wolves player Connor Ronan could be one man that comes in and plays for the club in the second half of the season.
“Bit of early transfer news: Huddersfield, Cardiff and Coventry have joined Aberdeen and Hibs in the chase for Wolves’ midfielder Connor Ronan. Player can leave Molineux in January.”
Ronan is surplus to requirements at Wolves having been unable to force his way in at the club, despite being there from a teenager.
It looks as though he has a few options available to him for his next club, though, and it just remains to be seen where he might end up upon leaving the Molineux club.
