Lautaro Martinez is expected to return from his vacation early after winning the Copa America with Argentina, so he can start Inter’s season on the right foot.
The captain had been due to take another few days off, as his team went all the way in the summer tournament in the USA and lifted the trophy, following up the 2022 World Cup triumph in Qatar.
However, Sky Sport Italia report that Lautaro Martinez is expected to return to his home in Milan tomorrow rather than wait until August 8.
It is a gesture of love for his team and also gets coach Simone Inzaghi out of a hole, because Mehdi Taremi has been ruled out for two to three weeks by a muscular injury.
With Marcus Thuram only just returning yesterday from his vacation after playing for France at EURO 2024, there are few options upfront.
Joaquin Correa started this evening’s friendly test against Pisa and Inter’s Serie A season is scheduled to begin against Genoa on August 17.
