Lazio have reportedly asked Chelsea about the availability of their young defender Aaron Anselmino.
The two clubs are currently engaged in crunch talks for Cesera Casadei who has been identified as the Biancocelesti’s priority target to bolster the middle of the park. The two parties have reportedly found a breakthrough in recent hours, with the Blues accepting an offer worth €12 million plus a 25% sell-on fee.
But according to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile have also enquired about Anselmino, a 19-year-old defender who is considered one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Argentina in recent years.
Chelsea splashed circa £15 million to buy the centre-back from Boca Juniors last summer, but kept him on loan at his boyhood club. While he was initially expected to dwell in Buenos Aires till June, the Premier League giants cut his loan spell short, bringing him to West London earlier this month.
However, the Argentine U20 starlet has yet to feature for Enzo Maresca’s side, and could embark on a new experience. But as the source explains, Chelsea have already consumed all of their allocated loan-out spots. Therefore, Lazio would have to use the same formula adopted in Casadei’s deal, that is a free loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
The Biancocelesti have received a major boost in recent days as it has been revealed that Patric has avoided surgery and should return in a matter of weeks. Hence, signing a new defender might not be a priority for the club at the moment, but Angelo Fabiani could still be interested in enhancing the backline given the right circumstances.
