Lazio are reportedly one of several clubs interested in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan at Chelsea.
The London native was considered one of the most exciting young stars in football during his time at Borussia Dortmund. The Red Devils thus splashed €85 million to prevail in the race, but the player endured two and a half forgettable years at Old Trafford, marred by off-the-pitch incidents.
But following an impressive six-month spell at BVB, Chelsea decided to bet on the England international, signing him on loan with an obligation to buy for £25 million. But despite a relatively encouraging start, Sancho has failed to set Stamford Bridge ablaze and has been reduced to a mere benchwarmer in recent months.
Despite having the option to cancel their obligation to buy the player by paying Man Utd a penalty of £5 million, the Blues are still expected to sign Sancho outright. However, the Englishman’s future appears to be far from West London.

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea will be looking to offload Sancho whose displays have been considered ‘poor’. The winger still has admirers in Germany, including Borussia Dortmund, who would consider bringing him back for a third spell. Moreover, Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be interested in the forward. Nevertheless, the source claims that the German duo could face competition from the Italian capital rivals, Roma and Lazio, who are both ‘keen’ to lure the player to Italy.
However, it should be noted that Sancho currently earns more than £250,000 per week, a figure that dwarves the Biancocelesti’s salary parameters. Hence, the only way Lazio could afford the English player is by striking an initial loan deal with Chelsea, who would have to contribute to his wages.
