Lazio are reportedly pushing to bring Antonio Candreva back to the Stadio Olimpico, but Salernitana are refusing to sell.
The right-sided winger turns 37 next month, but is aging like a fine wine, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 21 competitive games for Salernitana so far this season.
Despite his contributions, they remain rock bottom of the Serie A table and are ready to revamp the squad with new director of sport Walter Sabatini.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has requested Candreva as a valuable addition to his squad in the January transfer window.
This would be a return to the Capital, as Candreva played for Lazio from January 2012 until his €22m sale to Inter in the summer of 2016.
He was a fan favourite with 190 appearances for the club, scoring 45 goals and providing 43 assists.
While Candreva would certainly not be against the idea of reuniting with Lazio, Salernitana are refusing to even consider losing him mid-season.
To make matters more complicated, Candreva has now reached the criteria that will automatically activate a contract extension until June 2025.
