It has been another tough year for Rangers, with the blue side of Glasgow having failed to pick up any silverware, whilst bitter rivals Celtic are on course for another treble.

Despite that, Raskin has impressed in the heart of midfield for the Gers, both domestically and in Europe, whilst he was also in the Belgium XI earlier this year.

Such form has alerted other clubs, with Leeds and Villa both said to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who has two years left on his contract at Ibrox, and is valued in excess of £20m.

However, in a fresh development, TEAMtalk has revealed that Rangers are looking to secure Raskin on an extended deal.

They say they have no intention of letting the player leave, and they are planning to offer him a contract that reflects his importance at the club.

But there is an understanding that if he doesn’t put pen to paper then Rangers may have to consider cashing in, as player trading will be important for the Glasgow outfit.

Nico Raskin is capable of playing in the Premier League

There’s no doubt that Raskin is a talented player. He had a tough start at Rangers, and it’s never easy for anyone at the club when their rivals are dominating Scottish football.

Yet, Raskin has stepped up considerably, and he has emerged as a real leader and key figure in this Rangers team.

He is willing to take the ball in tight areas, he is capable in possession, and he plays with an intensity that has made him a firm favourite among the fan base at Rangers.

Therefore, you can see why Leeds and Villa are keen on Raskin, and he would certainly improve the Leeds squad as they try to establish themselves back in the Premier League.

Ultimately, Raskin is going to essentially decide his future in the next few months. If he does sign a contract, you would expect him to spend at least the next year or two in Scotland, but if no agreement is reached, then a move could be on the cards this summer.
