According to Football Insider, the 22-year-old has a number of suitors as we approach the final days of the winter market.

The winger has been a key figure for the Bluebirds this season, appearing in 23 of their 28 league games so far.

Tanner has contributed two goals and two assists, with the team battling against relegation to League One.

It has been reported that both Leeds and Burnley are eyeing a potential move for Tanner before the 3 February deadline.

However, the promotion rivals also face competition from Premier League sides Southampton and Leicester City.

It is believed that Cardiff are reluctant to lose the player this month, with the club fighting against relegation from the Championship.

Omer Riza will be hoping to instead make additions to his team rather than losing key figures like Tanner.

However, the opportunity to move up the division, or perhaps even to the Premier League, could be quite tempting at this stage in the player’s career.

Tanner signed a contract extension with the Welsh outfit earlier this season, keeping him with the club until the summer of 2027.

Cardiff City league position

Cardiff are currently 20th in the Championship table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Riza’s side are unbeaten in their last six league games, but have won just two in that run.

A 2-2 draw with Millwall on Tuesday moved them one point further ahead of Hull City in 22nd, with 28 games played each.

Next up for Cardiff is a home clash against an out-of-form Derby County side on 25 January.

Cardiff must hold onto Tanner

Cardiff can’t afford to be losing important players midway through this season given their precarious position in the league, particularly forwards that can contribute important goals and creative sparks.

Riza will be hoping that new players come in before the window closes, but losing the likes of Tanner instead could be a real blow.

His contract situation does give Cardiff some leverage in any potential negotiations, but it remains to be seen what kind of figure could convince them to cash in this month.

The Bluebirds should be holding out for a significant sum, as that could at least then be reinvested back into the first team squad in the final week or so of the market.
