Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk believes his team deserved to win all three points against Bristol City yesterday.

He didn't hesitate to make this claim on X, taking to social media following the Whites' 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate.

Heading into this game, Daniel Farke's side were the clear favourites, with the visitors making a very promising start to the 2024/25 campaign.

They may have had a couple of blips, but all in all, they were in a great position heading into this game and would have had plenty of confidence, even with Largie Ramazani on the sidelines.

Unfortunately for them, they were unable to make a breakthrough in the end, even though they had chances to take all three points.

In the first half, Joe Rothwell saw a volley in the box go off target, Jayden Bogle hit the side netting with a header and Willy Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson both had efforts saved by Max O'Leary, with the latter having a particularly good opportunity to put the Whites 1-0 up.

The West Yorkshire side also had a couple of good opportunities in the second 45, with Gnonto having an effort cleared off the line.

That clearance summed up what was a frustrating afternoon for Leeds, who will see this clash as two points dropped, rather than one gained.

They remain in the promotion mix at this point, but the extra two points could have put them in an even stronger position and in their likely quest to avoid the play-offs and secure a top-two position, this result is a slight setback.

Burnley also dropped points against QPR in their 0-0 draw at Turf Moor, so the Whites will be ruing the fact they missed a golden opportunity to put more pressure on the Clarets.

Pascal Struijk sends message to Leeds United supporters after Bristol City draw

Understandably, Leeds fans will be frustrated that their team couldn't secure a win against the Robins, and Struijk shared those frustrations on social media after the game.

He posted on X: "Left it all on the field, 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 more than a point."

Having kept a clean sheet in defence, the centre-back would have been keen to have seen this rewarded with three points, but his team were unable to put the ball in the back of the net in the end.

Leeds United's draw at Bristol City was a missed opportunity

Struijk was pretty direct with what he said, but it was all that needed to be said.

Leeds missed a number of opportunities to take the lead and they should have put at least a couple of those opportunities away.

O'Leary made a couple of excellent saves, but he was given a chance to save Aaronson's first-half shot when he shouldn't have had that opportunity.

It's a shame they were unable to win the three points in the end, especially with the Clarets only drawing.

But they have been in decent form recently - and the Whites will be seeking redemption in their next game by securing a win.
