The Foxes announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website yesterday evening.
The teenager is yet to make her senior debut for Leicester City. She has provided cover on the first team bench on a handful of occasions to date. Mears needs the opportunity to play at senior level therefore the next step of her development is to go out and get some minutes in the third tier with Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest were able to get the deal done ahead of their Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Plymouth Argyle at the weekend. Mears was named as a substitute in The Tricky Trees’ 6-1 win. She will compete for the first-choice goalkeeping jersey with Emily Batty in the coming weeks.
Leicester City are making good use of their Midlands links to develop their young players. Mears is the second youngster to go out on a dual-registration arrangement in the current transfer window. Defender Jess Reavill will also be playing FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division football in the second half of the season after recently joining West Bromwich Albion.
