Leicester City officials are in Milan to push for the transfer of AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic. £21m could be enough to seal the deal.
Good afternoon, Foxes. Well, we hope it'll be a good afternoon anyway, as recent reports have suggested that Leicester City could soon make their second deal of the January transfer window.
Already this month, Leicester City have announced the signing of right-back Woyo Coulibaly. However, the full-back might not be the last player the Foxes sign from Italy as they have been linked to yet another player in recent days.
Yesterday, we revealed that Leicester had made an enquiry about signing Strahinja Pavlovic from AC Milan this month. Well, by the look of it, those initial enquiries went well.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Leicester are currently in Milan trying to work on a permanent transfer for Strahinja Pavlovic. The report states that AC Milan have quoted €20m-€25m (around £19m-£21m), a fee which Leicester can afford.
Unsurprisingly, Pavlovic still has options, even after the deal which would've brought him to Fenerbahce to play under Jose Mourinho fell through. The Serbian defender was recently involved in Champions League action, showing he is still capable of playing at the highest level.
Of course, Leicester City will take what they can get at this stage. However, the thought of signing a Champions League level defender provides a massive sigh of relief. After all, the Foxes have conceded a few too many goals this season.
It is still within the Foxes' reach to achieve safety in the Premier League this season. However, there is a nagging feeling that they've left their safety push too late. After all, they sit 19th as it stands.
With Pavlovic coming in, it would be a real sign of intent from the Leicester owners. They achieved promotion to the Premier League the fair way, and they want to stay in the top flight.
