Leicester City are set to sign Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Feyenoord after successfully agreeing a deal with the Seagulls. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Premier League newcomers have beaten Feyenoord in the race to sign the Argentina international, which comes as a huge blow for the Rotterdam club. Leicester have agreed to sign the 19-year-old attacker on a season-long loan deal with no option to buy come the end of the campaign.
Facundo Buonanotte featured 36 times for Brighton across all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. The youngster is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, an attribute that Feyenoord were particularly interested in. The Seagulls signed him from Argentine side Rosario Central in January 2023, paying a reported €9m. Now he’s set to join Steve Cooper’s Leicester for the season.
Feyenoord had been working on a deal to sign the player but Leicester were said to have been ‘working on the deal in the background.’ The Rotterdam club will now look to other attacking options in the hopes of beating PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title this season.
