According to a report from Austrian media Kronen Zeitung, relayed by L’Équipe, RC Lens defender Kevin Danso (26) could undergo a minor heart operation as he looks to make his return following his aborted move to AS Roma.
Lens had been expecting to sell Danso for much of the summer, amid interest notably from Serie A sides. An agreement was then reached with Roma, however, unexpectedly, a cardiac issue was detected. In a public statement, the Austria international stated that he was “surprised” and “disappointed” to have failed the medical.
Since returning to Lens, no risks have been taken. Danso has been sidelined while he undergoes medical tests with a number of consultants from different countries. Kronen Zeitung have reported that, during a consultation in London, the root of the issue has been discovered and a solution found.
The Austrian media understands that the Lens centre-back could be about to undergo a minor operation in order to reduce the scarring on the heart. A return as early as October has been touted. Lens have neither confirmed nor denied the reports surrounding their defender. Will Still has previously said that Danso will be absent, at least until the end of September.
