Vincent Kompany’s side reached the 100-point mark, earning plenty of plaudits for their attacking style of play.

The Lancashire outfit will now be aiming to fight for promotion straight back to the first division.

The summer transfer window will offer the club a chance to make improvements to the Belgian’s first team squad before the new campaign gets underway in August.

Here we look at three Premier League players Burnley should look to sign on loan to aid their promotion battle next season…

Lewis O’Brien

Lewis O’Brien has enjoyed a positive stint on loan with Middlesbrough, performing well in Michael Carrick’s team after returning from serious injury issues.

The midfielder has proven himself at a Championship level, and would be a good fit for Kompany’s style of play.

Burnley could use some extra strength in depth in midfield in the Championship, and O’Brien has the pedigree to help their promotion ambitions.

He was a part of the Huddersfield Town side that earned a play-off final place, and now has some Premier League experience to go alongside that on his CV.

His time at Nottingham Forest appears to be over, so Burnley should look to take advantage and make a move to sign the 25-year-old on loan this summer.

Mark O’Mahony

Mark O’Mahony has earned his Premier League debut for Brighton already, but is still not quite ready for regular minutes in the top flight.

A loan move to the Championship next season would make a lot of sense for the Seagulls and the player.

The striker is ready for regular senior football, but hasn’t shown that he can compete at the highest level just yet.

The Clarets will need to strengthen their attacking options this summer if they are to compete for a place in the top flight.

A lack of goals has been a real issue for the team this year, and that will have to be looked at in the transfer window.

O’Mahony’s record at underage level is very impressive, and the youngster has a keen eye for goal.

Bringing him in on loan could prove a very shrewd addition to Kompany’s squad.

Alex Murphy

Alex Murphy earned his Premier League debut this season, coming off the bench twice for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United side earlier in the term when an injury crisis hit the squad.

The defender is capable of playing out left or through the middle, and is very comfortable in possession.

This makes him an ideal potential signing for Burnley this summer, as they will need to strengthen their defensive options for the Championship.

Left-back is an area that really lacks strength and depth, while another centre-back also wouldn’t be a problem either.

That Murphy can compete in both positions makes him an interesting option for Kompany’s side.

The 19-year-old needs regular senior game time, and a loan move to Turf Moor could prove beneficial for all parties, perhaps following in similar footsteps to Ian Maatsen’s stint with Burnley during the 2022/23 season.
