Layvin Kurzawa (32) is set for a move abroad, however, as revealed by L’Équipe, the former Paris Saint-Germain defender was offered the chance to stay in the French capital.

Kurzawa has been a free agent since the expiry of his contract at PSG at the end of last season. He has been biding his time in his search for a new club and has rejected propositions, including from Paris-based side Red Star. The club, who were promoted from National 1 last season, are currently mired in a relegation scrap in Ligue 2.

However, that didn’t stop them from making an ambitious swoop for former France international Kurzawa. Through intermediaries, Red Star held talks to sign the Frenchman in January and despite the defender’s lack of interest initially, Red Star made one final swoop late in the winter window. Once again, that was in vain.

Kurzawa now looks set to join Portuguese side Boavista on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
