Lionel Messi all but rules out Barcelona return | OneFootball

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has this week all but confirmed that he will not be heading back to the Camp Nou before his playing days are up.

This comes amid confirmation that the Argentine is close to extending his contract with Inter Miami.

Attacker Messi’s future has of course long proven a prominent talking point in Barcelona.

This comes with the impending expiration of his terms in MLS this summer having given rise to speculation surrounding a sensational return to Catalunya’s capital.

If the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, however, then any such move now appears all but ruled out.

As per a report from David Ornstein of The Athletic:

‘Inter Miami is close to an agreement with Lionel Messi over a contract extension, which would see the Argentina forward lead his side into their new home at Miami Freedom Park next year.’

Now 37, any form of return to Europe for Messi therefore looks dead in the water.
