Barcelona icon Lionel Messi has on Tuesday forwarded a message of well-wishes to former teammate Andrés Iniesta.
This, of course, comes after Iniesta opted to call time on his legendary playing career.
Now 40, and without a contract following a stint in the UAE in 2023/24, midfielder Iniesta on Monday announced that he has come to the definitive decision to hang up his boots.
Messages of gratitude and congratulations have since come pouring in for the one-time Spanish international, from across the football landscape.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday morning, as much were added to by Iniesta’s most famed teammate of all – Lionel Messi.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Blaugrana hero Messi unveiled a heartfelt post, featuring a photo of he and Iniesta alongside the caption:
“One of the teammates with the most magic and one of those I enjoyed playing with the most. The ball is going to miss you, and so will all of us. I wish you the best always, you’re a phenomenon.”
