With Milan Skriniar now at Fenerbahçe SK, Paris Saint-Germain may be in the market for a new center-back when the summer transfer window opens. Although Skriniar’s departure is temporary, PSG is expected to part ways with him for good, which means they’ll need a replacement.
Last month, Anfield Watch reported that PSG are fully committed to signing Ibrahima Konate. Given the uncertainty surrounding the defender’s future, this pursuit adds more pressure to the situation.
PSG are targeting Konate this summer, hoping to bring him back to his hometown of Paris. The defender, who began his career at Paris FC before moving to RB Leipzig, is a key target for the French club.
However, if Liverpool cannot reach an extension with Konate, they have a bold plan to offload him and strengthen their attack.

SportsZone reports that PSG could edge out Liverpool once again, this time in the transfer market. The outlet shared on X that Konate, Virgil van Dijk’s usual partner at center-back, “prefers to join PSG.”
Konate hails from Paris and is entering the prime of his career. However, according to the report, his best years may lie back in Paris rather than at Anfield, which would be a huge setback for Arne Slot.
“PSG has also taken a lead over Liverpool behind the scenes… on the Ibrahima Konate case! Liverpool, concerned about losing VVD and Ibou in the same summer, will make a new offer to extend the contract to the player,” the report said. “To date, Ibou prefers to join PSG, Liverpool knows it.”
