Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bournemouth over the transfer of full-back Milos Kerkez.

Arne Slot’s side have reached an agreement to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, with the right-back having undergone the first part of his medical at Anfield. Liverpool are now pushing ahead with plans to side a left-back and Kerkez is at the top of the club’s wish list.

The Premier League champions have contacted Bournemouth to discuss the deal with Fabrizio Romano reporting that talks are advancing. Kerkez is keen on the move and negotiations are underway over personal terms and the transfer fee.

Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, was behind the deal to sign Kerkez at Bournemouth before his move to Merseyside last summer.

The Hungary international has impressed in the Premier League this season, scoring twice and providing five assists for Bournemouth. At 21, Kerkez is viewed as the long-term successor to Andy Robertson, who has been Liverpool’s first-choice left-back for the past eight seasons.

Manchester City and Real Madrid have also been linked with signing Kerkez in this summer’s transfer window.

Kerkez could become the second high-profile sale made by Bournemouth this summer. The Cherries have seen Dean Huijsen depart for Real Madrid, after the Spanish side activated the defender’s £50m release clause.

Bournemouth are also expected to receive offers for Antoine Semenyo this summer. The club expect to recoup around £150m to reinvest from the sales of that in-demand trio.
