Liverpool have overcome many obstacles this season to sit top of the Premier League, but now one star has had to face a different kind of challenge.

Arne Slot has the Reds performing to a very high level, winning nine of his first 10 games in charge and even leading the team to an emphatic 3-0 victory over rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds most recent victory over Crystal Palace was overshadowed by injuries to Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister, however.

Whilst Alisson is expected to be out for around six weeks, Mac Allister could be back in fit in time for Liverpool’s next league game, but first the Argentinian had to deal with a hurricane raging off the coast of the USA.

Mac Allister escapes Hurricane Milton

The Argentine national team had met in Miami for training before their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia but Hurricane Milton nearly derailed all of their plans.

According to a report from TyC Sports, the adverse weather conditions almost caused the match against Venezuela to be postponed for 24 hours until Friday night in case the Argentine team weren’t able to fly out of Miami.

Hurricane Milton approached Florida as a category five hurricane with wind speeds of up to 265 km/h according to the report.

The Argentine national team were due to fly from Miami to Maturin with a technical stop-over in Colombia, as you cannot fly directly between the two locations.

Despite fears that the team wouldn’t be able to travel they arrived safely in Maturin and the game is now expected to go ahead as scheduled on Thursday night.

The latest on Mac Allister’s injury

The 25-year-old midfielder was substituted at half-time in Liverpool’s match against Crystal Palace, being replaced by Dominik Szoboszlai, and initially fans were worried it could be a serious injury.

It has since been revealed that Mac Allister has a chance of featuring for Argentina during the international break and that he has already returned to individual training.

This is a promising sign for Liverpool and means that the Reds might have one of their key players back ahead of the incredibly tough run that now faces them.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping to have Mac Allister back available as soon as possible and won’t want any more interference from hurricanes or any other acts of God.
