Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points with a huge 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Arne Slot named an intriguing starting lineup for that one, opting to go with Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones as double false-nines. That left Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah to start on either wing, whilst the likes of Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez were all given the day off.

Looking ahead to Wednesday’s clash with Newcastle United, Liverpool will be without Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Tyler Morton. All three players will be sidelined through injury for this one.
However, Liverpool’s shock FA Cup exit to Plymouth Argyle could be a positive for Slot with his side set for a weekend off ahead of next week’s UEFA Champions League Last 16 first leg away at PSG.
With that being said, let’s take a look at our predicted starting lineup for this one…
Alisson Becker will remain in the side for this one, with the Brazilian returning to his usual incredible form over recent weeks.

Ahead of him, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will keep their places at full-back once again. Alongside them, Virgil Van Dijk will captain the side and will be joined by Ibrahima Konate at the heart of the defence.
Slot will have Jarell Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas at his disposal from the bench.
Verdict: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Robertson
At the base of the midfield, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will partner each other once again before having a few days rest over the weekend.

Dominik Szoboszlai will start and offer his immense work rate and physicality in the middle of the park, whilst Curtis Jones will drop out of the starting lineup after being used almost as a forward last time out.
Jones will join Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott on the bench.
Verdict: Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai
Mohamed Salah will of course remain in the starting lineup for this one as he looks to continue his record-breaking campaign for the Reds.
On the opposite flank, Cody Gakpo will return to the starting lineup after missing the last three games due to a knock picked up in the Merseyside Derby two weeks ago.

Luis Diaz will drop out of the side, with Diogo Jota coming into the starting lineup to offer a clinical and robust presence through the middle.
The Colombian will join Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa on the bench and will be tipped to play a part in the latter stages.
Verdict: Salah, Jota, Gakpo
Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Jota, Gakpo
Bench: Kelleher, Quansah, Tsimikas, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Chiesa, Diaz, Nunez
