Liverpool trio lead Player of the Season shortlist

Three players from Liverpool’s title-winning squad have been shortlisted for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch are among the final eight nominees, with all three playing big roles in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign.

Joining them are Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, both of whom have had standout seasons as Forest defied expectations.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo also get nods, while Arsenal - despite finishing second - have just one nominee in Declan Rice.

Salah is widely seen as the top contender for the award, having bagged more goals and assists than anyone else this season.

He’s got 46 goal involvements in 36 games so far - just one away from matching the all-time Premier League record, jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, both of whom set it back when the season had 42 matches.
