Arne Slot’s side strong favourites to extend lead at the top of the Premier League

Premier League leaders Liverpool host the struggling Southampton this weekend.

Arne Slot’s side are closing in on the title, with the Reds sitting a whopping 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Such has been their success this season, Liverpool could even officially win the title in April, should the Gunners continue to drop points.

Still, they will need to improve from their performance in Paris earlier this week. Liverpool beat PSG 1-0 but Slot admitted his team got lucky, after goalkeeper Alisson Becker produced a string of fine saves to deny the otherwise dominant hosts.

Saints, meanwhile, are rooted to the bottom of the league and have won just twice all season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Liverpool vs Southampton is scheduled for a 3pm GMT kick-off time on Saturday 8 March, 2025.

Anfield in Liverpool will host.

Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are both injured for Liverpool, while Cody Gakpo missed that game with a slight knock.

The Reds are also without Tyler Morton but Slot otherwise has a fully fit squad from which to choose.

Southampton will hope to have all of Adam Lallana, Jan Bednarek, Lesley Ugochukwu, James Bree and Kyle Walker-Peters available for the game.

Ryan Fraser, Ross Stewart and Juan Larios are all injured, however.

Liverpool vs Southampton prediction

Saints ran Liverpool pretty close in the reverse fixture earlier this season but appear to have regressed under Ivan Juric.

Anything other than a convincing Liverpool win would be a major surprise.
