Liverpool make the trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening in the biggest clash between the sides in decades.
Nottingham Forest can move within three points of the leaders with a win at the City Ground, having exceeded all expectations this season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are third and Forest are the only team to have beaten Liverpool in the Premier League this season.
The Tricky Trees have won six consecutive Premier League games and a seventh will create real optimism that their challenge for the top four – and perhaps the title – can be sustained.
Both sides enter the contest after securing progress in the FA Cup at the weekend. The hosts beat Luton Town 2-0 on home soil, while Liverpool cruised past Accrington Stanley at Anfield.
Arne Slot handed rest to several big names at the weekend and Liverpool are set to return to full strength at the City Ground.
Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate are among those who should return, ahead of a crucial contest.
Slot confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Diogo Jota is now ready to play 90 minutes, after coming through the Accrington game unscathed. However, Luis Diaz is likely to be given the nod at centre-forward with Cody Gakpo and Salah in support.
A decision will be made on who starts at right-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who struggled against Manchester United last time out in the league, scored a brilliant goal in the weekend win.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.
Nottingham Forest host Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday 14th January 2025. Kick-off at the City Ground is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be broadcast on TNT Sports to a UK audience.
