Absolute rollercoaster of a game in the Belgian Pro League

It would be the nightmare start for Westerlo, who found find themselves a goal down after five minutes, and 2-0 down after just 16 minutes. On the stroke of half-time, they were able to grab a goal themselves, and half the deficit heading into the interval.

Then, 11 minutes into the second period, Vuskovic scored with an incredible bicycle kick to make it 3-2. This goal was the central defender’s sixth goal in 20 league games so far this season, an absolutely ridiculous return.

However, eight minutes or so later – Brugge retook the lead and went 3-2 up. Another twist was to come, as with just under twenty minutes remaining, Devine scored a goal himself after a lovely take, turn, and finish into the bottom corner, making it 3-3.

The two goals from Spurs loanees looked like they were going to be enough to secure a hard fought point for their side, but four minutes into stoppage time, Brugge took the lead and would see the game out for an incredibly topsy turvy 4-3 win.

Just a real shame for the two youngsters and their side, after their herculean effort to get back into things. This defeat has left Westerlo in 11th place in the Belgian Pro League, with 23 points from 20 games, and they could fall further down the table by the end of the weekend.

Aside from his goal, Vuskovic also recorded; five clearances, five interceptions, one tackle, 4/6 accurate long balls, 3 out of 4 aerial duels won, and 1/1 successful dribble attempts. He has now already played 1755 minutes of league action so far this season.

As for Devine, aside from his goal, he put up; 5/6 accurate long balls, four (other) shots, one foul drawn, one tackle, one chance created, and 47 touches. The midfielder has now played 1183 minutes of league action this season, after completing another 90 in this game.
