Nearly a decade ago, Milne was competing in the Highland League with Culter, Scotland’s fifth tier, but after a January transfer from Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle to Tynecastle, he is now playing in the top flight.

“To play in an atmosphere like that against a team like that was special for me” Hearts defender Harry Milne

Although Hearts suffered a resounding 3-0 defeat over the weekend, a scoreline that flattered the Edinburgh side, Milne was still overwhelmed by the experience of playing at Celtic Park: “To play in an atmosphere like that against a team like that was special for me,” he said as reported by Daily Record.

“I just want more days like that – with better results. I remember when I first started with Cove Rangers in the Highland League, playing in places like Fort William, where a couple of farmers come out to watch you! To go from there to this was a special day for me and my family. My girlfriend managed to make it down, but I had family all over the world watching.

“My brother is over in Australia, and my dad is going over. They met halfway in Singapore and watched it in an Irish bar.nIt’s just as well they weren’t here! It shows the global appeal of clubs like Celtic and Hearts. There’s always a bar anywhere in the world that is showing it.

“It was a bit bittersweet with the result”

“It was a bit bittersweet with the result, but you are not always expected to go there and get the three points. So, it was disappointing, but it doesn’t take away too much.”

Before Saturday, the 28-year-old had never played in maroon. Although his Jambos debut didn’t go as expected, Milne will be eager to deliver for his team in the upcoming weeks as Neil Critchley’s men strive to secure a top-six finish and push for those crucial European spots.
