Out-of-favour Lyon midfielder Jeff Reine-Adélaïde (25) is nearing a loan move to Troyes, according to a report from Foot Mercato. As reported this morning by L’Équipe, the Aube side have entered the race to sign the former Arsenal man, and now appear to be leading it.
The City Football Group-owned club may even insert a permanent option in the loan move, with Lyon and Troyes are now deep in talks regarding the terms of the deal. The former club of Reine-Adélaïde, Angers, were also in the running. But the Ligue 1 bottom-placed side deemed his salary too high as Le Sco are already being closely monitored by the DNCG, Ligue 1’s financial watchdog.
The Gones midfielder was close to joining Sevilla last week, but following a medical the La Liga side did not follow up on the transfer – with their concerns over the player’s fitness seeing them pull out of the move. Reine-Adélaïde did not fail his medical but showed a lack of pace, due to recovering from his recent knee-related setbacks. He was not part of the Lyon squad that defeated Ajaccio this Sunday for Ligue 1 gameweek 20.
