Everton FC have recently approached Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Maxence Caqueret (24), according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The 24-year-old midfielder reportedly decided not to pursue the matter any further. Lyon are currently racing against the clock to raise funds from player sales before the end of the summer transfer window. On the back of Lyon owner John Textor’s proposed takeover of the Toffees, fringe OL players have been recently linked with a move to Goodison Park.

Those include winger Ernest Nuamah (20) and Orel Mangala (26). The Belgian international midfielder is on the verge of a return to the Premier League by joining Everton on loan, after being signed from Nottingham Forest. Lyon have already secured a replacement for Mangala by signing USMNT international midfielder Tanner Tessmann from Venezia. Among Lyon midfielders, Caqueret was reportedly also of interest for Sean Dyche’s Toffees, but the Lyon academy product rejected, for now, the opportunity to sign for the Liverpool-based Premier League club.
