Lyon arguably had the work done in the first leg, boasting a two-goal advantage on aggregate and already leaving Bayern with a mountain to climb at the Groupama Stadium.

The German side dominated possession in the early stages and it soon paid off as Klara Bühl was played through after a midfield turnover, charging forward before slotting the ball past Christiane Endler into the far corner.

The hope was short-lived, however, as Bayern were dealt a sucker punch just 30 seconds into the second half when Kadidiatou Diani’s dangerous cross was headed into the back of the net by Melchie Dumornay.

Ten minutes later, Diani went from provider to goalscorer, capitalising on a loose touch from Giulia Gwinn in the Bayern box to fire home Lyon's second goal of the night and put one foot in the semi finals.

Lyon’s lethal front three then scored their third in the space of 15 minutes when Diani’s low, driven cross was turned into the net by Tabitha Chawinga.

After their quick-fire blitz early in the second half, Lyon expertly managed the remainder of the game to see out the result, but not without adding a fourth goal in stoppage time courtesy of substitute Ada Hegerberg.

Lyon will face the winners of Real Madrid vs Arsenal in the last four, with the Spanish club taking a two-goal lead into their second leg at the Emirates.
