One Premier League star may have his pick of some of the most renowned clubs in European football this summer.
As such, his team may have an incredibly difficult time keeping hold of him.
Adam Wharton is the starlet in question, as he has picked up where he left off – in stellar form – since returning from a hernia injury last month.
The 21-year-old was out from the end of October to February, making his return in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win over one of his admirers, Manchester United, on the second of the month.
Oliver Glasner was keen to integrate him back into the action slowly by granting his midfielder three appearances off the bench before his first start against Aston Villa, which saw Wharton claim the Man of the Match award after a 4-1 thrashing over the Villans.
As per Mail Sport, Real Madrid have joined United and Liverpool, both of whom have been able to properly study their target in the Premier League, in the race for the one-capped England international.

Hailed as ‘one of the best’ in his position in the division, Wharton cost Palace only £22 million when he signed from Blackburn Rovers in 2024. Now, the board value him at a whopping £70m.
Last April, he earned high praise from compatriots Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker following Palace’s 1-0 win at Anfield.
“When I was at Blackburn, six or seven weeks ago, they told me about the transfer,” Shearer told The Rest Is Football panel.
“They said they had to sell him for obvious reasons. They felt as if Palace had got a great deal. They wanted to and needed to get more for him, but such was the need to sell. They said Palace got him on the cheap. I understand why today. I’ve been watching him, and he’s been really impressive.
“Today he was, without doubt, he ran that midfield. When you consider who he was against and the fact it was at Anfield. That’s a pretty big thing to say, but he was outstanding.”
Lineker chimed in: “What a performance, he’s so calm on the ball, he doesn’t give it away. He never gets flustered. He tracks back, gets forward, and he has a really good all-round game. He looks like a possible star for the future.”
