Noni Madueke has said the sky is the limit for Chelsea and England Cole Palmer after a sensational last 12 months for club and country.

Palmer, who was named England men’s player of the year last night, has risen to stardom since signing for Chelsea from Manchester City on deadline day last summer for £35 million. The 22-year-old has contributed for 51 goals in 54 matches so far for the Blues, continuing his excellent form under former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino into the new campaign for new boss Enzo Maresca.

Speaking during his press conference at England’s media day, Madueke, whose recent form for the west Londoners has seen him earn his first senior caps, believes nothing can stop Palmer from reaching the very top of the game.

“Cole Palmer’s a very unique player,” said Madueke. “He’s a type of player that doesn’t feel pressure in the most pressurised situations. I admire that about him.

“He’s a great footballer and I’m sure he’s going to produce for England just as he does for Chelsea.

“Cole is a phenomenal player, in terms of the best player in the world, I don’t know if I should be the one to decide that!

“I think the sky’s the limit for him. I don’t know if he has a ceiling. I feel like the form that he’s showing now is incredible and I just hope he can continue that.”

The 22-year-old also thinks his ever growing relationship with his teammate at club level can only benefit England in the long term:

“Me and Cole have a great relationship off the pitch and on the pitch as well. It would be fun if we can get to play with each other for England definitely. We just bounce off each other. I think we have a similar outlook on things.

“We have a good connection. Firstly, we’ve been playing with each other for a very long time now, since we were Under-15 here at England. And we are very good friends off the pitch, so he probably looks for me a lot, just as I look for him. He’s got a killer pass, and I’m very dynamic, so I think it just works.”
