Sport Bild reports that Mainz are interested in bringing Jonjoe Kenny back to the Bundesliga next season. The former Everton academy man and heavily capped English youth international has turned in a very solid season for Hertha BSC in the 2. Bundesliga, recording seven assists.

Kenny sits on an expiring contract, making him available on a free. A potential move to Sheffield United reportedly fell through during the recent January transfer window. The 28-year-old is thought to be torn between a move back to his native country and a future in German football. Interest from top flight Mainz could perhaps sway him with the promise of the potential of European football.

Kenny does possess plenty of Bundesliga experience. He contested a total of 60 German top flight matches whilst playing on loan at Hertha and Schalke 04, scoring two goals and collecting three. Hertha reportedly prefer Deyovaisio Zeefuik as their future right-back, meaning Kenny doesn’t appear set to have a future in Charlottenburg.
