Premier League champions Manchester City have been afforded a timely boost on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s upcoming showdown with Real Madrid.

This comes amid confirmation that Nico González is back in group training.

Midfielder Nico, for his part, was dealt a blow over the weekend.

Fresh off his January arrival from Porto, the former Barcelona talent was handed a debut starting berth in Man City’s FA Cup final meeting with Leyton Orient.

En route to a comeback Sky Blues victory, however, Nico lasted just 22 minutes.

This came after a challenge in the middle of the park left the 23-year-old grounded and in evident distress.

Nico’s status to play his part in City’s Champions League playoff first-leg clash with the aforementioned Real Madrid was, in turn, thrown up in the air.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest images stemming from the Premier League giants’ training base are anything to go by, then the Spaniard looks increasingly likely to be cleared to feature at The Etihad on Tuesday.

This comes amid confirmation that Nico has returned to group training alongside the rest of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
